Indian cricket has produced a number of great cricketers over their illustrious cricketing history, the latest of them is the right-handed Virat Kohli, who has tasted equal success in all the three formats of international cricket ever since he made his debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. He is currently International Cricket Council’s (ICC) number-one ranked Test and ODI batsman.

He also has an impressive captaincy record and is currently an indispensable member of the national team. India are currently in Australia and prior to the third Test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), former Aussie spinner and holder of numerous bowling-records Shane Warne heaped praises on the 30-year-old from Delhi and hailed him as the greatest cricketer on the planet

“This year, the Test series is great. It’s because the series is locked at 1-1. It’s great because of this guy… Virat Kohli. He is the greatest cricketer on the planet,” Warne mentioned in a promo video of the Test match, released before the encounter.

Virat’s Australia tour in brief

In the ongoing series against Tim Paine, the visitors have been dependant on Virat to a large extent, albeit some of their other players have also stepped up. Virat didn’t have the best of times in the first Test at Adelaide Oval. Nevertheless, he would be satisfied for the reason that India won the match by 31 runs to take an important 1-0 lead in the four-match series.

He had a memorable time with the bat in hand in the second contest at the new Perth Stadium as he scored his 25th Test century after which he controversially got out to Pat Cummins. India lost that match by 146 runs. The bearded beast is currently batting on 47 from 107 deliveries by the close of play on Day 1 of the third and penultimate match at the MCG.
