Virat Kohli is the player to watch out for in the India game: Shakib Al Hasan
India will face Bangladesh in a crunch match tomorrow at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said that Virat Kohli is the key player for India, but their team is not taking anyone else lightly either.
Shakib said that even players who are low of form like Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina can be a handful on their day and cannot be taken lightly in this format of the game. “Obviously, he (Kohli) is the key player for India. They (Rohit, Dhawan, Raina) are all match-winners and yes, they have not been among runs, but we have to be on the watch out because India has the world’s best batting lineup. So, we need to be careful and we need to be very disciplined with our bowling and fielding to restrict them,” Shakib said in the press conference on the eve of India match.
He felt that toss will play a vital role in the match. Bangladesh lost their match against Australia at the same venue, though Bangladesh gave them a tough fight. The pitch seemed to take a turn from the first innings itself, Adam Zampa picking 3 wickets with his leg spin.
“It is important for both the team. Toss might play a crucial part, but it is more important how we play in the middle. We have to be careful because India is playing for the trophy. We need to be very disciplined in batting and bowling. We need to play our best tomorrow,” he said.
Shakib also spoke on the suspension of Taskin and Sunny in middle of the tournament, saying that it was a disappointing situation, but nothing can be done now expect moving on and facing the next challenge.
He said that the status of Tamim Iqbal was still dependent on whether he has recovered from his injury or not. Shakib also pointed out something about the wicket, saying, “It is a very good wicket, but for the last two games, the ball is gripping. Normally doesn’t happen that way. It is a high scoring game and ground that most like to chase.”
