Virat Kohli posts a relaxed selfie after ODI series victory
Team India now has a 3-0 lead in the series with two matches to go.
Indian skipper, Virat Kohli never fails to impress with his languid selfies, captioned more often than not with crisp, witty one-liners. The morning after the conclusion of the controversial 3rd One-Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka, that saw the agitated crowd hurling bottles onto the ground, captain Kohli posted a quick selfie as he looked relaxed and seemed to be enjoying his off-day. India won the 3rd ODI by 6 wickets on Sunday, consequently sealing the ODI Series by a margin of 3-0.
Sri Lanka were able to put up a total of 217 runs on the board after they won the toss and chose to bat first in the 3rd ODI. In reply, the Indian top order, barring Rohit Sharma toppled quickly. However, MS Dhoni and Sharma, together were able to stitch up a spectacular partnership and would’ve cruised to victory, had the play not been disrupted in the 44th over due to bottle-throwing by angry spectators.
A relaxed Virat Kohli captions his picture as “Calm after the storm”
After India beat the hosts by 6 wickets and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series, Kohli tweeted a selfie and captioned it, “A nice calming morning after a hell of a game last night. ‘Calm after the storm.’ ”
The match had indeed been an eventful one and for all the wrong reasons. Sri Lanka had earlier lost the Test series against India by a 3-0 margin, and the ODI series did little to better their existing predicament as the hosts were unable to put up substantial scores in any of the 3 matches, and the only saving grace was provided by the beautiful bowling of young off-break bowler, Akila Dananjaya.
With India needing only 8 runs off 6 overs, the agitated crowd at Pallekele, on Sunday, resorted to chucking bottles onto the field, leading to a 35-minute halt in play. The players first had to gather at the centre of the field and eventually, leave the ground for a considerable amount of time as the chaos refused to die down. The match was completed after a section of the crowd was evicted from the stadium as Rohit Sharma (124*) and MS Dhoni (67*) steered their team to victory.
