Virat Kohli praises his bowling unit, congratulates Kuldeep on the hat-trick
He gave a big up to Kuldeep for the hat-trick.
The topic of conversation in every Indian cricket discussion at the moment is Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm chinaman has cast a magical charm on everyone’s mind with his match-winning spell against Australia in the last match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Chasing a target of 253, Australia were once on course to overhaul the target being placed at 148/5.
But the lad from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh had something in store for the Aussie batters which derailed them completely. From nowhere, Kuldeep pulled off a scintillating hat-trick, as the perennial cricket lovers of Kolkata screamed in joy and Australian skipper Steve Smith watched his empire collapse. Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade was his first victim, who dragged an outside off ball onto the stumps.
The second one to fall was Ashton Agar, who couldn’t connect with an almost full toss ball. The ball instead went on to hit him on his shoes, thereby Agar was trapped leg before wicket, as the umpire made no mistake in lifting his finger up. The last and final piece of the puzzle, who would settle not just the game for Indian but carve Kuldeep’s name in the history books, was Pat Cummins.
Cummins wasn’t cunning enough to read a googly and edged the ball. Speaking of wicketkeeper of Mahendra Singh Dhoni‘s calibre, he wouldn’t miss those chances, as Kuldeep became the third Indian to get a hat-trick in ODI cricket, after Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev. Pat’s wicket was the final nail in Australia’s coffin, as the mouth-watering encounter was now reduced to a one-sided affair.
Kohli’s tweet
India went on to win the match by 50 runs, owing to a classy display from the bowling party. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli was in no mood to hide his ecstasy, as he took to Twitter to say “Great effort by the bowling unit last night! Big up to @imkuldeep18 for becoming the 3rd Indian to get a Hatrick.
