Virat Kohli, who injured his neck during the IPL has shown signs of regaining full fitness. The 29-year-old was spotted practising at BKC complex on Wednesday and turned up at the Western Railways Ground on Thursday. According to reports, Kohli was accompanied by Sanjay Bangar team India’s assistant coach.

The duo stayed for an hour as Kohli kicked off his full-fledged routine. He has started working on his fitness so as to clear the fitness test that he will be undergoing June 15 at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru.

The Indian skipper suffered a neck injury during the 51st game of IPL when he dived to take a catch. The impact of the dive wasn’t vivid at that point and it was only after the culmination of the season that the gravity of the injury was revealed. The neck injury ruled him out of his county stint with Surrey and also put his participation in doubt for the tour of Ireland and England.

Rohit Sharma speculated to take over the captaincy in absence of Kohli

Virat Kohli is slated to undergo a fitness test on June 15 which will decide whether he will be part of the UK tour. He was named as the skipper of India in limited-overs series for the tours of Ireland and England with Rohit Sharma being named his deputy. In case Virat misses a match or two due to fitness issues, Rohit will automatically take place his place as captain.

The Men in Blue is slated to play two T20Is against Ireland on June 27 and 29. Following that, the team will travel to England for a full-fledged series, which will start with three T20Is and three ODIs, which will end on June 17. After a break of two weeks, a five-match Test series will kick off which will be an ardent task for the Indian team.
