Cricket is said to be a team game but this is one of those sports in which players are ranked individually on the basis of their individual performances. Earlier in the 80s and 90s, there was a dominance of West Indies and Australian players in the ranking table but the days have changed and now it looks like India is aggressively taking the charge over it.

This sport has seen a drastic shift in the last couple of decades. India has given players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and now players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah have taken their ownership of dominance in the world cricket.

Indian players dominate in the latest ICC ODI rankings

ICC has released the latest ODI rankings in which Virat Kohli has been throned with the number one position in the batsmen list whereas the fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah can be seen on the top in the chart of ODI bowlers. After Kohli, his fellow teammate Rohit Sharma has grabbed the second spot in the latest ranking of 50 over format.

Although it will be difficult for the Indian pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah to retain his position for a very long as he has met with a stress fracture which might force him to take rest from cricket and India will play their next 50 overs series against West Indies which is scheduled to be played in December.

In the table, there were no big movements among the players that were seen, except the players from Pakistan. Mohammad Amir who took three wickets in the last ODI match against Sri Lanka has helped in laddering onto the 7th position. The left-hand pacer has already retired from Test cricket but is still featuring in the limited over the format for Pakistan. Usman Shinwari’s performance against Sri Lanka was brilliant which takes him to the 43rd position and before the series against the islanders he was on the 73rd rank in ODIs.

In the ODI team ranking, England is leading the table followed by India and New Zealand on the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The Kiwi team has got the benefit of playing well in the world cup and turned out to be the runners up in the mega event that was played in England.
