Virat Kohli reveals changes in Team India for the Bangladesh Test
After a bit of a break, the Indian team resume their home Test season with the one-off game against Bangladesh at Hyderabad that starts tomorrow (February 9). They would want to field a full strength squad in the game since the neighbors are no longer pushovers even in the longest format and the No.1 team wouldn’t want to take risks against their No.9 placed opponents. Indian skipper Virat Kohli interacting with the media today was asked about the team combination for the match.
He quite openly accepted that they will start with their regular middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane in place of Karun Nair who played the last two Test matches for the team in Mumbai and Chennai against England. Karun scored a triple century in the last inning that he played to become only the second Indian to achieve the feat but skipper Kohli said, “One game doesn’t overshadow 2 years of hard work, he (Rahane) is the most solid batsman of our team in the Test format.”
Yesterday Indian head coach Anil Kumble who interacted with the press was asked the same question, he praised both the batsmen but didn’t wish to reveal his cards. “It’s nice that Karun (Nair) took his opportunity and did what he did in Chennai. Fantastic for a young cricketer to come in and score a triple hundred. But, we all know what Ajinkya has done for this team, for India. So, his performances have been phenomenal across conditions. So, we still have not figured out what the combinations. We will take a look tomorrow and then decide,” Kumble said.
