Team India continued their rampaging form in the limited overs cricket with thumping series wins over South Africa. The team were ably led by Virat Kohli on the tour. For the first time in the history of the game, the Indian team tasted success in the ODIs and the T20Is on the South African soil. The achievement was indeed a remarkable one considering the fact that the Indian team had arrived in the ODI series after having lost the Test series 2-1.

The confidence, perhaps, was carried forward from the consolation win the team had in the final Test of the 3-match series. In the ODIs, the Indian team looked like a different unit altogether. Led firmly by a ton from Virat Kohli in the first ODI at Durban, the team took a key lead in the series. Soon, the Indian wrist spinners – Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav – spun a web across the South Africa batsmen in the matches to follow to set up the Indian dominance.

A rare failure for the Indian side in the ODIs followed in the Wanderers, Johannesburg in the fourth ODI. But the team bounced back yet again in the next game in Port Elizabeth to seal the series. Commenting on the individual performances, Virat Kohli was undoubtedly the best performer of the series. The Indian captain mustered over 500 runs in the series – the highest aggregate by an Indian cricketer in a bilateral ODI series.

Also, he slammed three tons during the series to be named as the Player of the Series award. Virat missed out on scoring big in the two T20Is that he played. He did not feature in the final game. However, his involvement was there to be seen in the dressing room. After India’s T20I series win, Kohli took to micro blogging site Twitter to express his feelings with the fans.

Here is what Virat Kohli tweeted after India’s T20I series win:

“Great way to end a wonderful tour and time for us as a team. Jai hind,” Virat Kohli wrote in his tweet.
