Virat Kohli speculates Kuldeep and Chahal to be massive factors in the World Cup
The Indian skipper is in awe of his spin twin attack.
South African wickets are widely renowned for assisting fast-bowlers and being unkind to the spinners. However, the ongoing One Day International series has been a witness to a different story altogether. The Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have been exemplary with their wrist-spins. After three games, they are currently the top wicket-takers with 10 and 11 wickets respectively. Both bowled exceptionally in tandem and rolled over South Africa to help India take an unassailable series.
A crucial factor for World Cups
Quite expectantly, Virat Kohli was mesmerized by them and he showered praises on the wrist-spinners after the conclusion of the game. “I don’t have words to explain this. It’s outstanding to see two guys just totally spinning a web around the opposition. There doesn’t seem to be a way out at all. It’s unbelievable. Credit to them. Both have been working hard on their game. Both are very brave in terms of how they bowl and the kind of fields they want as well” Kohli said
Kohli also credited them for being deceptive and throwing challenges for the batsmen to counter. “They’ve always, every over they’ve asked two-three questions of the batsmen, that is something outstanding. I haven’t seen that before. Every over they might pick up two wickets, that is the kind of belief they have in their abilities and the team has a belief in them, the team is backing them” the Indian skipper iterated.
The Delhi cricketer also spoke about the impact the spinners could make during India’s World Cup campaign on overseas conditions. “Going ahead in these conditions now, and we are going to play the World Cup away from home, that I think is going to be the massive factor for us,” Kohli added.
After three one-sided affairs, the series now moves to Johannesburg for the fourth match. While South Africa will be looking to stay alive in the series, India will wish to close the series out with another thumping victory over the hosts.
