Virat Kohli was naughty and foodie in his young days, says childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma

Indian captain Virat Kohli has raised the bars phenomenally when it comes to fielding standards in Indian cricket. The ace cricketer is compared with some of the best international athletes in terms of body fitness and his strong stress on fielding standards have seen India’s transformation into one of the fittest sides in world cricket. However, Kohli was not always the same and his childhood coach is a witness.

Rajkumar Sharma, who coached Kohli in his childhood days, recently said that as a boy, the latter needed extra attention. Kohli was taken to Sharma’s academy when he was just nine-and-half-years-old and Sharma immediately recognized the talent in him. However, that was just the beginning.

Kohli had to cover a lot of distance to reach where he is today and Sharma did not hide the fact that Kohli was once a naughty boy who loved mimicking and binged on biryani and kebab. That sounds quite unrealistic today since the ace batsman is now a vegan and follows a diet which is a super recipe for sportspersons’ to succeed at the highest level.

“Virat was a very naughty boy. He was always mischievous and loved mimicking. He used to love partying and dancing. And then came a stage when I had to take extra care of him especially when they won the (under-19) World Cup and he was signed up by RCB,” Sharma was quoted as saying by Sportswallah. Sharma also shared the moments when Kohli used to bring tikkas and biryani for him to the academy after asking him not to bring his lunch.

Kohli has succeeded both as batsman and captain

Kohli has succeeded phenomenally both as a batsman and captain of the Indian cricket team. While he has rushed to scaling Mount Tendulkar in terms of runs and centuries, he also became the first Indian captain recently to lead India to a Test win in Australia. It’s just a matter of time before Kohli becomes India’s most successful captain in Tests and also the second batsman in the world to hit a century of centuries.
