Viv Richards names the batsman who excites him the most in world cricket
During the charity game, one of the commentators asked Richards to pick a player from the modern day cricket who excites him the most.
Former West Indies cricketer, Sir Viv Richards is revered as one of the greatest players to have ever played the game of cricket. The players of the modern generation often hail him as the best they have ever seen. Also, the youngster are not shy in picking him as the player they grew up aspiring to be like in their cricketing careers. He is certainly a big name in the world cricket and will always continue to be one.
Recently, Viv Richards attended the charity game played at the iconic venue of Lord’s. The Windies team locked horns with a star-studded World XI in the match. During the game, one of the commentators asked Richards to pick a player from the modern day cricket who excites him the most. Without any delay, the former cricketer took the name of the Indian captain, Virat Kohli. He quipped, “I love watching Virat Kohli.”
Not for the first time
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Viv Richards has showered praises on the Indian skipper. Recently, when he was asked to predict how things would fare up for Kohli on the upcoming England tour, Richards had backed the Indian captain to come good.
He had admitted that Kohli has had a poor run in the English conditions but noted that he had improved significantly since the Indian team last toured England. Also, last season, when India toured the Caribbean, the former Windies cricketer was seen sharing the frame with the Indian captain on a couple of occasions in social meetings.
“I’ll back him to improve on that, coming out of there [with an average] in the fifties or high forties. He has improved tremendously as a batsman. I’ll put my money on him scoring. He hasn’t quite done it to the English as he has to other teams around the world. That should be a huge motivator,” Viv Richards had quoted earlier.
