Vivo IPL 2016: Teams, players retained, released and purse balance

The trading window of the Vivo IPL 2016 was closed on 31st December 2015. Most of the franchises retained the core set-up of their squad. KKR have Gautam Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa, KXIP retained David Miller, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson. Similarly, Kieron Pollard, Harbhajan Singh, Rohit Sharma, Lasith Malinga, who have been with Mumbai Indians for years were also held back. RCB also kept their core unit firm with skipper Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle in the team. Kedar Jadhav was the only player, who was traded during the trading window. Jadhav, who was with Delhi Daredevils was sold to RCB.

Delhi Daredevils will be going into the February auction with the largest purse of 36 crores which gives them enough opportunity to buy back the choice of players they want in the auction. Major players retained by DD include Mohammad Shami, Amit Mishra and Shreyas Iyer in the squad for IPL 2016. Zaheer Khan will have dual responsibilities this season as he would be playing the role of a player cum mentor in the team. The biggest surprise on the last day of the trading window was releasing Yuvraj Singh into the auction. Another major name whom they released was Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Matthews who was bought for 7cr.

Players Released: C.M. Gautam, Yuvraj Singh, Domnic Joseph Muthuswamy, Jaydev Unadkat, K. K. Jiyaz Kona, Srikar Bharat, Manoj Tiwary, Angelo Mathews, Gurinder Sandhu, Marcus Stoinis.

Purse Spent: 29,15,00,000

Balance Purse: 36,85,00,000
