Waqar Younis comes to mind when I think of Umran Malik: Brett Lee
"I think Umran Malik has got a lot of pace to burn," said Lee
Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee compared Indian speedster, Umran Malik, to former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis and said that Malik’s game reminds him of the legendary pacer. Malik earned praises from many legendary players and everyone wishes to see the youngster play for India.
Malik’s hard work for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022 paid off well for him, as he received his maiden national call-up for the upcoming home series against South Africa. Malik consistently clocked his deliveries at speed above 150 kmph and made it difficult for the opposition batters to try for a big shot on his delivery.
“I am a big fan. I think Umran Malik has got a lot of pace to burn. He is a competitor, a top guy, who runs in like a lot of fast bowlers in the past. Waqar Younis is the person who comes to mind,” Brett Lee was quoted by Hindustan Times.
Malik, who hails from Jammu, had a great outing at the IPL 2022 as he bagged 22 wickets in 14 games at an average of 20.18 and an economy of 9.03. He recorded his best bowling figures against Gujarat Titans as he registered 5/25 but ended up on the losing side.
I am a massive Kohli fan: Brett Lee
Lee also addressed Virat Kohli‘s recent struggles with the bat. The star batter is going through a rough patch in his career and could manage only 341 runs in 16 games this season, with just a few good performances. In RCB’s crucial fixture against the Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2, he was dismissed early as his side failed to make it into the finals.
“I am a massive Kohli fan like a lot of people in the world. I just hope that he really gets his opportunity. He just needs some time out. Spend some time with his family, get reset and hopefully, we can see him scoring some hundreds,” Lee said.
