Wasim Jaffer hilariously trolls England players on their reaction to the Ahmedabad pitch ahead of the fourth Test
Jaffer has been on a trolling spree on Twitter for the past few months.
Wasim Jaffer has officially replaced his former Indian team opening partner, Virender Sehwag as the former cricketer with the best tweets. In the past few months, Jaffer has revealed his never-seen-before humour on Twitter and its wittiness has had Indian cricket fans rolling on the ground laughing.
In his recent tweet, Jaffer took a sly dig at the England players for their inability to cope up against spin bowling in challenging conditions. The touring team has really struggled against Indian spinners in this series so far. In the first innings of the first Test, they made a huge total of more than 550, but since then, they have not crossed 200 even once.
Ravi Ashwin and Axar Patel have been the chief architects in making sure that England doesn’t get away after India lost the first match. Ashwin has picked up 24 wickets in three matches while Axar has taken 18 wickets in two matches. On top of that, there has been too much talk about the pitch, which might have resulted in Jaffer pointing that out.
“Here we go again!” – Wasim Jaffer imagines Joe Root’s reaction after seeing a turning track in the fourth Test
In a picture which he uploaded in the tweet, England players Stuart Broad, Mark Wood and Jonny Bairstow can be seen with captain Joe Root and assistant coach Paul Collingwood. In the caption of the tweet, Jaffer added an imaginary conversation between the players, who seem to be inspecting the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Jaffer wrote “Broad: Guess my tour is over then. Wood: At least you played bro. Bairstow: Where me flat pitch?! Colly: Oh this one’s gonna turn innit? Root: Ah shit here we go again.” Broad has been found to be ineffective in this series so far, going two Test matches, without any wickets. Wood, who joined the squad in the middle of the series, hasn’t played yet.
England lost the third Test, which was a day-night affair, quite embarrassingly. They were bowled out for 112 and 81 in the two innings which they played. India won the Test match by 10 wickets, a result which also made England ineligible for the ICC World Test Championship final to be played later this year. The fourth Test will start on March 4 and will be a day match to be played in Ahmedabad.
