Wasim Jaffer shares his all-time IPL side, assigns the captaincy to MS Dhoni
Jaffer went on with the opening pair of Chris Gayle and Rohit Sharma, which would help in steering any side to an explosive start.
The world has been grappling with adverse effects of coronavirus and the whole world has been put to a halt due to its outbreak. Apart from human existence, the pandemic has hit the sports industry as well. From Indian Premier League to Tokyo Olympics– major sporting events have suffered a major blow as clouds of cancellation or postponement are hovering around them.
To battle the pandemic, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a 21-day lockdown in the country. Amid the lockdown, many cricketers are spending their idle time in interacting with their fans on Twitter. So far, many cricketers including Shreyas Iyer and Mitchell McClenaghan have conducted a Question & Answer on the microblogging website.
And, it was Wasim Jaffer who joined the list and conducted a Q&A session on Twitter on Saturday where he answered a plethora of questions. Post the Q&A session, Jaffer has been quite active on Twitter and the former India batsman shared his all-time IPL team on the website.
Jaffer went on with the opening pair of Chris Gayle and Rohit Sharma, which would help in steering any side to an explosive start. Jaffer picked up Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli to bolster the side’s middle-order and for the wicketkeeper choice, he incorporated MS Dhoni into the team. The former India skipper, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings, was named as captain of his IPL side by Jaffer.
Wasim Jaffer picked Ravindra Jadeja as the 12th man
Meanwhile, Jaffer went with the trio of Andre Russell, Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan to provide with some necessary contribution in the death overs. The trio has the potential to stitch a quick-fire knock in slog overs. To finish things off, Jaffer picked up Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga. Ashwin will be heading the spin bowling department of the side while the Bumrah-Malinga duo will try to curb the run-flow with their toe=-crushing yorkers and pinpoint accuracy.
Jaffer also selected Ravindra Jadeja as the 12th man of the side considering the left-hander contribution to Chennai Super Kings’ success in the history of Indian Premier League. Furthermore, Jaffer also asked his followers to share their IPL teams and he will retweet the teams if he likes them.
Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League, which was slated to start on 29th March, was postponed to 15th April after the outbreak of Coronavirus across the globe. However, with the increasing effect of the pandemic, there are reports suggesting that the much-awaited tournament will be pushed further in the near future.
