Watch: Adam Lyth takes a screamer
T20 cricket has certainly raised the fielding standards in cricket. Fielders these days are very different than what they used to be in the past. They are simply fearless on-field and always ready to throw themselves at the ball whenever the opportunity arises.
One such example is of former England opener Adam Lyth who took a wonderful catch during the Yorkshire versus Lancashire clash in the on-going NatWest t20 blast. The Yorkshire side posted a functional 142 runs target for Lancashire to chase. The chase got off to a slow start Openers Jordan Clarke and Alviro Petersen could only dab singles and doubles.
Clarke, in particular, found himself tied up by the miserly opening Tim Bresnan and Steven Patterson In the 4th over, the right-hander tried to break the shackles with a pull shot towards the deep fine leg area. The ball, unfortunately, went high and couldn’t find the distance.
Initially, it appeared that the ball will land safely and Clarke would have to settle with just a couple of runs. Adam Lyth, however, had different plans. The Yorkshire opener came running rapidly with his eyes fixed on the ball and took the catch diving to right in an excellent display of fielding. The judgement was just perfect for him.
It was a mind-blowing effort and Lyth too was pumped up after completing the catch. Clarke’s attempt to find momentum failed as Yorkshire earned their first breakthrough I the form of his wicket.
