Watch: Brendon McCullum's superlative fielding effort to run out Shaun Marsh
Brendon McCullum is one of the most athletic cricketers we have in world cricket at the moment. He is a very reliable catcher and does not leak runs while fielding. Here in this video, he yet again displays his impressive ground fielding skills. New Zealand is currently playing Australia in one the most significant matches of Test cricket. The ongoing Test, also known as Pink Test, has already turned out be an interesting contest between both the teams.
Australia was batting in reply to New Zealand’s 202 in the first innings. The Aussies were 3 down for 67 runs with Shaun Marsh and skipper Steven Smith at the crease. Tim Southee bowled a slightly over-pitched delivery to Marsh who gently pushed it towards the mid on area. Marsh quickly called for a run.
But, McCullum, standing at a distance from the mid-on position, swiftly reached for the ball. He dived to his left and eventually managed to grab the ball with one hand. But, he continued to skid little further due to the momentum and had turned opposite to the bowling end as a result. It left him in a little uncomfortable position. However, he quickly turned around and threw the ball on the stumps at the bowling end.
The aim was accurate and his tumbling effort resulted in an important run out as Shaun Marsh fell short of the crease by a big margin (he was not even in the frame during replays). It was a surprise wicket which was largely possible due to the highly appreciable effort by McCullum.
