Hardik Pandya is currently on a high. The Baroda batsman has been in the news constantly for his performances. His breezy cameo with Suresh Raina yesterday helped India reached a formidable total. India went on to win the match comfortably by 69 runs and levelled the series. The team was happy clawing back into the three-match series after being 1-0 down.

BCCI’s Shirin Sadikot later caught up with Hardik for a selfie interview. The 22-year-old was introduced as the ‘West Indian guy from Baroda’ by the host and later answered why he is called so.

Pandya told that he is dubbed as ‘Caribbean’ because he does everything in style.

“I like the way Caribbean guys live, I kinda follow it” he said. “I don’t have to act. It comes naturally. I just be myself. Whatever comes out people name it” Pandya added.

Hardik’s life has changed a lot in the past few months. When asked whether it has become difficult to go out now and not be recognized by people he said, “I kinda like it when I go out I be myself and I behave as what I was before and now I still go out watch movies which I love to do with my friends. People are quite nice in Baroda. They just come and click a picture and go”

Pandya also talked about the learning experience in the debut tour. He was named in the team that toured Down Under to fill the void of a seam bowling all-rounder and he was impressive in whatever opportunity he got.

“I was just getting used to international cricket. I wanted to improve my bowling I did pretty well but I still wanted to sharpen my bowling skills was practicing a few yorker “

Pandya also spoke about the reason behind having 228 as his jersey number. “Actually, I like that number. I scored some 228 runs against Mumbai in a domestic game. So I just wanted to have that number on my Jersey and now people love it. In IPL I had it, I was planning to change it but I didn’t as people love it”
