Watch: Javagal Srinath killer display of late swing
On his day, Srinath was outstanding. With a strong shoulder action, he hit the pitch with force and proved to be lethal with his in-swingers – his main weapon. He mainly found wicket with it.
One such example of how lethal he was with his in-swingers was the way he dismissed West Indies middle order batsmen Keith Arthurton. The left-hander had no idea when the ball swung from right below his eyes and went on to rattle the stumps.
Srinath had pitched the ball up, giving the ball a bit more time in the air. The ball which appeared to be pitching on outside the leg stump of Arthurton swung onto the middle and off stump almost like a magic. Arthurton was lured into playing a false stroke on the leg side.

The ball had, however, beat him without any effort to bring his downfall. Arthurton’s looked shocked and kept staring at the stumps in disbelief. The West Indians who were already 55/4 lost yet another wicket as Srinath and his team celebrated the Windies debacle.
Srinath had already snapped Carl Hooper in a similar fashion before taking his wicket and finished with 2/27 in his 10 overs in the low-scoring game which ended in a draw.
