After the #Tracerbullet challenge, it is now the #DoItLikeDhoni challenge which currently trending in the social media circle. It has had everyone from commentators including Sunil Gavaskar, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Deep Dasgupta and Sanjay Manjrekar to normal fans attempting to emulate Dhoni’s epic run-out which got better of Ross Taylor in the New Zealand ODI series.

But, out of all attempts to replicate MS Dhoni’s street smart way of running out Taylor, it was England’s Joe Root whose try which grabbed the more attention. In fact, it surprised many as it wasn’t something which was planned like the commentator did.

Root was quite close to pulling off an MS Dhoni on day four when he tried running out Virat Kohli at the bowling end. Fortunately, Kohli had made it to the crease by the time Root hit the stumps with his soft attempt.

The England bowlers had a tiring day on the field yesterday as Kohli along with Jayant Yadav made them bowl for the entire day without much success. Cook, after trying out all his frontline bowlers without any success turned to part-time off-spinner Joe Root. The occasional bowler had tasted success earlier and already had two wickets to his name when introduced again in the attack. This fact lured Cook in choosing him to bowl hoping for a miracle. But, as it happened, Root wasn’t able to get better of neither Kohli nor Yadav. But what remained memorable was his throw facing his back towards the stump.

India eventually triumphed England by an Innings and 36 runs to take an incontestable in the 5-match Test series. Ravichandran Ashwin followed up Virat Kohli’s 235 and Jayant Yadav’s 104 with a 6 wicket haul to bundle out England for just 195 in the second innings on the fifth day morning.

Earlier, the commentator’s team also took to the field and emulated Dhoni. Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, a former leg-spinner, took the ball while Michael Atherton and Sunil Gavaskar, two of the best opener for their respective countries, went to bat with the former taking the strike. Deep Dasgupta wore the wicket keeper’s gloves while Manjrekar stood as the fielder.
