Watch: Kumar Sangakkara takes a superb catch to dismiss Cooper
Former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara is surely one of the best batsmen produced by the island country and is widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential cricketers. Following his international retirement, Sangakkara is featuring for different T20 leagues all around the globe.
Playing for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), he took a one-handed catch diving to his right, which is not his strong side being a left-hander – a catch that would make any youngster feel proud of his athleticism.
Batting first, Jamaica posted a good total of 158 from 20 overs. Thanks to Andre Russel’s 44 from 24, which took the score past the 150-run mark. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in the innings. Rovamn Powell with his 34-ball 44 and Sangakkara with his 23 gave the platform for Russell to come and explode towards the end.
Hashim Amla gave the right start to the chase with 42 runs from 36 balls, but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. And that made the chase tougher. Andre Russell was the bowler and Kevon Cooper was on strike. On the first ball of the 17th over Russell banged in a back-of-length delivery and Cooper tried to run it down to third-man. The ball took the outside edge and Sangakkara put in a full-length to complete a wonderful one-handed catch.
