Watch: Mahela questions Clarke over a suspicious catch: Michael Clarke, during tour of Sri Lanka in 2011 took a suspicious catch in slips to put curtains to Mahela Jayawardene’s innings who remained unmoved till the replays showed the catch was clean.

During the 2nd match of the 3-match Test series between Australia and Sri Lanka, the Australian pacer Trent Copeland, who was playing in his only the 2nd Test match managed to make Mahale Jayawardene who was on 51 to edge into slips where Clarke, who was standing at 2nd slip dived towards his right and took a brilliant low catch.

Jayawardene, who felt unsure whether the catch taken by the Australian Captain was clean or not decided to stay at crease. As a result Clarke moved towards Mahela and explained that it was a clean catch.

Clarke said, “Mahela. 100 per cent, 100 per cent I caught. Clear as.”

“It’s up to you (whether you want to walk or refer it), but if you’re asking, 100 per cent I caught.”

In reply to Clarke, Jayawardene said, “I do walk mate, just wait. Chill.”

However, unhappy Jayawardene left the field after the replays showed that Clarke indeed took a clean catch.
