Watch: MI Paltan share their superstitions on Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th is the most superstitious day of the year in the Western world. The effect of the superstition is widespread. The fear of this date is such that people avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. It is, in fact, considered the most feared day in the United States. In India, too, we have our own list of superstitions which people follow. Some are simple while some are far more dreaded that the ‘Friday the 13th.

Mumbai Indians cricketers, in a candid video by MI’s official Twitter handle, the cricketer share things about the superstitions which they follow in their day to day life.

Right from skipper Rohit Sharma to English batting sensation Jos Buttler to wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel have their own superstitions. There are other players too who perform their customary set of activities before a match, like wearing the left pad first, not eating eggs et al on the match day.

Buttler says that he avoids eating onions rings on match day. Rohit Sharma says he prefers wearing the same jersey in which he had scored runs in previous games. But, he says that sometimes, he doesn’t rigidly follow that superstition due to various reasons. Other superstitions include not changing the gloves while playing in the middle. Nitish Rana, who made his debut last game, says that he chooses to walk only on the left side of his non-striking partner.

The clearest reply came from the veteran in the team – Harbhajan Singh. Bhajji states following superstitions make a person more superstitious and he doesn’t believe in such superstitions.
