Watch: MS Dhoni bowls to Manish Pandey in the nets
There is nothing that can keep MS Dhoni out of action for long. The former Indian skipper has stepped down the leadership role but never fails to contribute to the team’s efforts. In a recent net practice session, Dhoni was seen taking some time off from his regular wicket keeping chores. He took the ball in hand and ran in fast to throw down a few balls to Manish Pandey.
This is not the first instance when Dhoni was seen bowling during the practice sessions. Time and again, he has been rolling his arm over in the practice sessions as a part of his warm up schedule. MS Dhoni has even bowled in international cricket before. Surprisingly enough, the wicket-keeper from Ranchi has a couple of wickets to his name as well.
Among the wickets that he has taken, Dhoni has dismissed one of the legends of the game, Mahela Jayawardene in an ODI match before. Talking about the video, MS Dhoni dug the ball in short to Manish Pandey. The batsman tried to pull it on one occasion and then let it slip through on the second. The third delivery that MS bowled saw him manage to beat the outside edge of Manish Pandey. Or perhaps there was a nick too.
The key attraction was the short little celebration that followed from Dhoni. A typical fast bowler’s celebration was replicated by MSD. Well, who knows that he might well roll his arm over in the ODI series that kicks off in a day. India will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against England starting on January 15 at Pune. With the likes of wicket keepers Kedar Jadhav and Rishabh Pant in the ODIs and T20Is squad, Dhoni has full freedom to get his due share of bowling.

After all, with no more captaincy calls to take, MS will try to have fun out in the middle. The video of MS Dhoni bowling to Manish Pandey in the nets was shared by the official Twitter handle of the BCCI. Along with the video, they added the caption, “New pacer in the team? Watch @msdhoni bowl to @im_manishpandey in the nets. There is also a celebration in the end #INDvENG.”
