Watch: MS Dhoni’s lightning quick stumping to dismiss Chandimal
Be it any format of the game, MS Dhoni is a wizard when keeping close to the stumps. He hardly misses any catches and pulls off amazing stumpings. He is very quick behind the wickets and is every spin bowlers dream wicket keeper. It is his ability to turn half chances into wickets that make him distinctive from others.
Similarly, here in this video, he turns a close chance into a successful dismissal. India was playing Sri Lanka in a warm-up match ahead of the World T20 2014 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Dhaka.
Sri Lanka was at a decent position in the match with Dinesh Chandimal and Thisara Perera at the crease. Ravichandran Ashwin had just begun the 17th over. With a good platform set for him, Chandimal tried to bolster the run rate. Ashwin ran in to bowl the second delivery of his over. Chandimal tried to come on the front foot to glance a wide ball around his legs. However, he missed the ball completely.
Within no time, MS Dhoni took advantage of the situation to dislodge the bails within milliseconds to dismiss him at the score of 29. It was a neat and quick work behind the stumps by MSD. It was such a clean effort that the leg umpire did not even bother to refer with the third umpire once before giving it out.
The match itself was very exciting with Sri Lanka winning it narrowly by five runs in the end. These Asian giants met once again in the final of the tournament. And, Sri Lanka proved to be the better team once again as they eventually beat India to lift the T20 World Cup.
