Watch: Pat Cummins bowl the scariest beamer: A beamer in cricket refers to a delivery which doesn’t touch the pitch, is intended to be a full toss and on a few occasions is a bit too high to be a legitimate delivery. A ball which is above the waist height of a batsman is called a no-ball by the umpire. As per the cricketing manual the ball should be under the limited height and anything beyond it is considered to be risky for the batsman to play. When it is bowled once the bowler is given an initial warning and repetition results in a temporary ban and the bowler can no longer continue to bowl in the game. In a scary event of its own kind here we see Australian pacer Pat Cummins bowl a shocking beamer to the England ODI skipper Eoin Morgan.

The tri-series featuring Australia, England and India began with the first ODI between the hosts Australia and the challengers England. Batting first the visitors were in all sorts of trouble struggling at 61-4 in 13.5 over’s their newly appointed limited over’s captain Eoin Morgan was at the crease with all-rounder Ravi Bopara and the two were trying to stitch around a partnership to rescue England from getting out cheaply and conceding the match to the Aussies. Pat was running in hard to bowl the final delivery of the 13th over which was a quite over until then as he had conceded not more than a couple of tuns till then.
He was bowling well having picked up a wicket and spent 11 runs till then. Morgan who was at the strikers end was playing on 17 of 32 balls while his partner Bopara was on 11. The ball looked to be the effort delivery from Cummins but it just flew off his hands. At no point during the release did he look in control of the ball and from his delivery position it slipped off his hands.

A scary ball it looks in replay’s and the batsman too got scared by the look and instantly moved away to keep himself off the zone of misguided dart ball. Fortunately it was too wide to poise danger to Morgan and was collected behind the wicket. But still it must have shaken the English skipper and must have been tough for him to concentrate on the next ball.

He did go on to hit a century but David Warner’s unbeaten 127 won Australia the game inside 40 over’s also winning them a bonus point.
