Watch: Pat Cummins bowls a beauty, but Renshaw drops and KL Rahul survives

India are playing Australia in the beautiful Dharamsala stadium in the fourth and final, series-deciding Test. Australian captain, Steve Smith, after winning the toss elected to bat first, and hit another century, his 3rd this series, to give the side another solid start. Indian openers KL Rahul and Murali Vijay resumed the proceedings on day two.

Vijay though departed early when he edged a delivery off Pat Cummins to offer Matthew Wade an easy catch. Two overs later, the right-arm pacer almost took another wicket before Matt Renshaw dropped the catch. Rahul wasn’t able to read a fast delivery from the right-handed bowler and ended up edging it towards the first slip.

Renshaw, however, didn’t judge the ball well and it went through his hands for KL Rahul to survive a scare. Former Australian captain Michael Clarke, who was commentating when this unfolded, had some amusing words to describe this delivery. He labelled it as “Flying saucer” and “A soda”.

“That’s stunning for Pat…Just look at the seam after he knicks it. It’s a saucer so it keeps going up… They are really hard to catch in slips”, Clarke said. This is a thing on television looks like a soda…So fast…You can watch the outside edge…Watch the seam of the ball…Really tough to catch it…You get a lot of them in England,” he added.

On day 2 of the play, the hosts finished the day with a score at 248 for the loss of 6 wickets. After Murali Vijay’s dismissal early in the day, KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara formed a strong partnership to give India a good start to build on. However, Nathan Lyon ran through the middle-order with four wickets to hamper the hosts’ progress. India trail Australia by 52 runs at the end of Day 2.
