Watch: Shahid Afridi apologizes over upsetting performance in World T20

Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi recently shared a video message on his official Facebook profile apologizing to his nation over his team’s poor performance in World T20. The skipper stated that he was sorry for the below par team’s performance.

Afridi said that he has worn the Pakistan jersey with pride and emotion since the past 20 years of his career. He says that he carries the sentiments of his people whenever he enters the cricket field and according to him the team is not just a squad of 11 players but it is made up of the entire nation.

The 36-year-old added that he is not bothered about what would be written about him in future. He stated that he was addressing to the Pakistan team’s fans and is only liable to answer them.

“I, Shahid Afridi, apologize to the people for not living up to the expectations people had from me and my team. Thank You,” he concluded the video.

Pakistan team faced a first round exit for the World T20 which is being hosted in India. The Men in Green, who were having a rough time performance wise prior to the World T20, entered the tournament with a fresh hope of mending things together and overshadowing their past poor performances. However, things didn’t change. The team continued to struggle with the same old issues and which eventually resulted in them finishing at fourth in the points table with only one win in four games. They failed against India, New Zealand and Australia while managing to secure only against Bangladesh.
