India took on Western Australia in a warm-up T20 game to kick off their tour. There were plenty of reasons to be happy for India and one among them was opener Shikhar Dhawan hitting form.

After India opted to bat Dhawan started off a bit slow. But after Kohli joined him post Rohit Sharma’s dismissal he opened up nicely. Against an inexperienced bowling attack, Shikhar took maximum toll. He played some exquisite cover drives when the ball was pitched up and wasn’t afraid to pull or hook either when the bowlers banged it short. Both the opposition leg-spinners were taken to the cleaners by him as he found proceedings extremely comfortable.

Fans would be hoping that he carries on from here into the bilateral series. He was eventually dismissed for a well compiled 74 off 46 balls. He was involved in a 149-run stand with Virat Kohli for the second wicket. He hit 8 fours and 3 sixes during his innings.

Dhawan’s form has been crucial for India since he is a really attacking batsman and has the capability to run away with the game. His opening partner Rohit was consistent in ODIs right through 2015 and loves to play against the Aussies, once the Dhawan-Rohit partnership starts striking gold for India at the top, it will be really difficult for the home team to defeat the Men in Blue in the limited overs series.
