Young Indian batsman Rishabh Pant has made a big name for himself in such a short period of time. He came into the 10th edition of the IPL riding on a scintillating run in the domestic season this year. He had a triple century to his name and the fastest century in the Ranji Trophy history. The world knew that he can hit the long ball. He showed glimpses of his power hitting in some of the fixtures in the IPL this year.
The one that took everyone by storm came against the Gujarat Lions. The hapless bowling lineup saw as many as 7 bowlers tested on the day but all in vain. Rishabh Pant played a superlative knock that singlehandedly demolished the opposition. His knock of 97 came off just 43 balls. Make no mistake, there were no rash shots in the innings. His knock drew praises from all corners.
Well, when the master of the era Sachin Tendulkar lauded the innings, that served as the true testimony to the brilliance of Pant on the day. Sachin took to the social media site Twitter and praised the knock quoting, “one of the best Innings I have seen in the IPL & that includes all 10 seasons.”
In the match, the Gujarat Lions had set up a mammoth target of 208 for the Delhi Daredevils. It was a do or die game for the Daredevils, who were playing at home. Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant rose to the occasion and added a belligerent 143 run stand in just 63 balls to set the firm base of the run chase. Both notched up their fifties before Samson perished on 61.
