Glenn McGrath’s intimidating presence was felt by VVS Laxman as he was bamboozled by a quick fire short pitched delivery that might have sucked the life out of anyone. Laxman was stunned and understandably so, it was a ferociously directed bouncer that no many could have countered. But why Laxman is special is because of the daring way in which he reacted abruptly after getting hit by that fiery bouncer, which rattled his helmet.

Any normal player would have got unnerved after getting hit in that way. But not if you are Very Very Special Laxman. The very next delivery McGrath tried to change his length so as to deceive Laxman and bowled a full length half volley, but Laxman with his ever lazy elegance punched it majestically through to the covers that raced away to the boundary for four.

Laxman was in many ways overshadowed by the golden trinity of Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly. But it is an obvious fact that Laxman is a legend as well in his own right.
