India was playing Australia. VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh were the batsmen in the middle. Yuvraj was well set and had already hit a century. The team was also in a very commanding position with 268 runs on the scoreboard and 7 wickets in hands.
The match was into the 49th over. But, it was obvious that there was no reason to worry as hardly two overs were left in the Indian innings. Ian Harvey was nearly half way through the over, ready to bowl the third delivery. As a batsman, Harvey was a wicked bowler to deal with. But, young Yuvraj was also blasting the ball that day. Harvey ran in, to bowl the 3rd delivery of the over but does a mistake by pitching it short. Taking advantage, Yuvi pulled it for a giant six over the mid-wicket region. The second ball, Harvey makes another silly mistake by bowling a full toss to a fully charged up Yuvraj. He lofted it for a nice boundary in the deep cover area.
The medium pacer had a very deceptive slower ball which made him a very useful limited overs bowlers. He tries that as the last resort to stop Yuvraj. But, the ball is pitched in the hitting zone of the southpaw and off he goes again and sweeps it in the deep fine leg area for the second consecutive boundary of the over.
There was still one last delivery left in the over and it met with a similar fate. Harvey does nothing different. He puts the ball right under Yuvraj’s bat and he powerfully hits is straight down the ground for a mighty six. The last four balls of the over read 6,4,4,6 and India’s scorecard raced from 268 to 288 runs.
