Watching MS Dhoni close out matches has been a big factor: Deepak Chahar
Chahar helped India win the game by three wickets.
Deepak Chahar helped India clinch victory from Sri Lanka’s jaws after dark clouds were looming over India’s fate. Lankan bowlers were gaining all the strength but Chahar had different ideas and he made them a reality with Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the other end. Chahar while leading the team at the end, played an unbeaten knock of 69 runs and helped India win the game by three wickets.
In the latest turn of events, Chahar added that he learned from MS Dhoni’s mind while chasing the game and that helped him plan his innings in Colombo. The pacer told that he has been watching Dhoni closely and whenever one talks to him, he only tells to take the game deep. It is a known fact that Chahar plays alongside MSD in the Chennai Super Kings in IPL and being with the ultimate leader had helped him a lot.
“Watching MS Dhoni close out matches has been a big factor. I have watched him for a long period and I have always seen him finishing matches. When you talk to him, he always tells you to take the game deep. Everyone wants us to win, but when the match goes deep, it is thrilling for everyone involved,” said Chahar in the virtual press conference.
My father has been my coach says Deepak Chahar
Chahar went on to add that it doesn’t matter to him at all if people don’t look at him as an all-rounder. The batter at another end should be comfortable that he won’t throw his wicket easily, he should have that confidence in him, stated the CSK pacer. Chahar also credited his father for developing his batting skills in the near future and he has been his coach too.
“I have always worked on my batting and my father has been my coach. When I talk to him, we always talk about my batting. It doesn’t matter if people see me as all-rounder or not. The batsman who is playing alongside me will get confidence that I can hang around and will not give my wicket away. It is very important for a batsman to know that his partner will support him,” he added.
