‘We are just in shock’ – Shane Warne’s mother opens up on her son’s death
Shane Warne was in Thailand when he passed away because of a heart attack.
Shane Warne’s death has sent the cricketing world into a tizzy. The leg-spin bowling colossus was in Thailand when he passed away because of a heart attack. Warne’s management team said that the legendary cricketer was found in an unresponsive state, and could not be revived.
The management team further requested everyone to respect the privacy of the family and added that more details will be provided in the course of time.
“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course,” said Warne’s management team.
Shane Warne’s mother has now said that the family is in shock, but they are ‘ok’. “We’re just in shock… we’re ok,” said Bridgette Warne as quoted by the Herald Sun.
Shane Warne defined a generation: Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews
The Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews said that Shane Warne was a cricketer who defined an entire generation. Adding that his heart goes out to Warne’s family and friends, Andrews concluded by stating that a state funeral will be offered to the cricket legend for his contribution to the country.
“Shane Warne didn’t just inspire a cricket generation – he defined it. To us, he was the greatest – but to his family, he was so much more. Our hearts are breaking for Shane’s family and friends – and they are in the thoughts of all Victorians. I have offered a state funeral to his family so Victorians can pay tribute to his legacy and contribution to our state, community, and country,” concluded Daniel Andrews.
Warne is the highest wicket-taker for the Australian side in Test match cricket and scalped a staggering 708 wickets in 145 Test match appearances for the kangaroos. He retired from the game in 2007, after a stellar 15-year career.
