We have a set plan for Andre Russell, says Krishnappa Gowtham ahead of the KKR clash

Andre Russell has taken the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 by storm. His unbelievable hitting in all of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ matches has caught the eye of all the cricket experts and fans. His biggest exploits of hitting came against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) recently, when he smoked 48* in 13 balls to help KKR make 53 runs in last 18 balls to win the match from an impossible situation.

He hit seven sixes in that innings and so far, has amassed 207 runs from 77 deliveries at an astonishing strike rate of over 250. Now the KKR team will face the hosts Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Sunday. Russell is expected to light up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium with his array of big hits, given his recent form. But RR spinner Krishnappa Gowtham has other ideas for him and has issued a big warning for the burly Bajan all-rounder.

He has been in very good form

“He has been in very good form. He has been hitting a lot of sixes and he is doing well for his team. We do have a plan set for him and hopefully it comes out,” Gowtham was quoted as saying by Times Now.

In the last three meetings between KKR and RR, Andre Russell has been unbeaten. Russell’s best against RR came in the eliminator match of IPL 2018 when he bludgeoned 49 off 25 balls which included two sixes against Jofra Archer, a four and a six against Unadkat and two fours and two sixes against Ben Laughlin. KKR had defeated RR in that game and moved on to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier.

Rajasthan Royals are ranked seventh in the points table for IPL 2019 with only two points with only one win against RCB in four matches. But Gowtham is unfazed about it and feels that the team is peaking at the right time.

“Yes, we were having certain hiccups but we are peaking at the right time and doing well. In the last game against RCB, everything came out really well. We want to carry on the winning momentum. It was not that we had bowled badly but it was just that we couldn’t come out at the crucial time and we couldn’t perform. It’s just that,” the off-spinner further added.
