'We have not become bad players overnight after two bad games' - Rohit Sharma after India's thumping victory over Afghanistan
Rohit Sharma added that the Indian players reflected on their performances and came back strongly in the match against the Afghanistan outfit.
The Indian cricket team decimated the Afghanistan outfit by 66 runs in their third Super 12 Match of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. With this thumping victory, Virat Kohli and his men have posted their first victory in the tournament.
And now, India’s veteran cricketer Rohit Sharma has stated that India has not become a bad team overnight just because they lost 2 matches on the trot. The ‘Hitman’ added that the Indian players reflected on their performances and came back in the match against the Afghanistan outfit.
“It didn’t happen in two games but that doesn’t mean that we have become bad players overnight. If you have two bad games, it doesn’t mean that all players are bad, those who are running the team are bad, you reflect and you comeback and that’s what we did in this game,” said Sharma after the match between Afghanistan and India.
We have to play fearless cricket: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma also said that the Indian cricket team should play fearless cricket and not think about what is happening around them. Admitting that the Indian side did not produce ‘great’ performances against both Pakistan and New Zealand, the 34-year-old Sharma concluded by stating that India are still a good team.
“In these situations, you have to stay fearless and not think about what is happening elsewhere. We are a very good team but just that we were not great on that particular day against Pakistan and also against New Zealand. The game that we played sums it up that this is what we get when we play fearlessly,” said Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma was the catalyst of India’s victory with the willow in hand. Opening the batting, the right-handed batsman scored a classy 74 off just 47 deliveries to help India pummel the Mohammad Nabi-led Afghanistan outfit. Sharma also won the Player of the Match award for his sensational knock.
