Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma has accepted that his team has not been able to showcase their best performance this season. However, he feels that even the most successful teams in sports go through a bad phase.
Mumbai Indians, on Sunday, became the first team to be eliminated from the IPL 2022 playoffs race after their eighth straight loss in the league. Rohit, one of the most successful captains in the history of IPL, could not lead his team towards a victory this time as MI are yet to open their account.
The skipper shared a message for the fans as he took to Twitter and wrote: “We haven’t put our best foot forward in this tournament but that happens, many sporting giants have gone through this phase but I love this team and its environment. Also want to appreciate our well-wishers who’ve shown faith and undying loyalty to this team so far.”

Rohit has faced a lot of backlash after the team’s dry run this season, but he is not the one to be solely blamed. Something similar happened with MS Dhoni in the year 2020, when he failed to put up good performances with the bat, and CSK lost multiple games in the tournament.
Rohit was recently named India’s all-format captain, and after successful stints, he arrived at the Mumbai camp to carry on the momentum. However, he has not been able to do so. In the hustle, the 34-year-old has lost his form in the game and has been able to score only 153 runs in eight innings at an average of 19.13 in IPL 2022.
Rohit has led Mumbai to five IPL titles, and this is the one time that he hasn’t given his best. He also accepted the fact that the batters, including himself, haven’t batted well this tournament. But there are still hopes that the team will bounce back stronger and put up a remarkable performance this season.
