'We will be back stronger together' - KL Rahul tweets after KXIP's exit from IPL 2020
KL Rahul-led KXIP lost their must-win encounter against CSK to miss the playoffs berth.
Kings XI Punjab’s season ended in IPL 2020 after they lost their must-win encounter against Chennai Super Kings by nine wickets. Though they are out of the tournament, skipper KL Rahul stated that they would return stronger in the next season. CSK was already out of the playoffs race, but it was a crucial match for Punjab on Sunday, where they failed to show their dominance. Before getting out of the season, KXIP made a magical comeback by grabbing five victories on a trot.
Even though they are out from the season, KL Rahul has maintained his dominance in the Orange Cap race. He ended his campaign by amassing huge 670 runs under his belt at an average of 55.83, and second on this list is Sikhar Dhawan, who is almost 200 runs behind him. KXIP opener Mayank Agarwal also showed his gratitude for the supporters and promised of making a better comeback.
“Won together, lost together, fought together, and we will be back stronger together,” Rahul tweeted.
In the same manner, Agarwal, who scored 424 runs in this year’s IPL from 11 matches at an average of 38.54, stated, “Not an ideal way we would have preferred to finish the season, but it’s been a wonderful campaign for all of us. On a personal front, it felt great to get back out there doing what I love the most. Thank you for always believing in us.”
There was a time in the league when the dangerous duo of Mayank and Rahul used to scare the bowlers. They dominated the Orange Cap race for a long but then Mayank was sidelined from the team owing to an injury. The skipper also lauded the efforts of youngsters in the post-match press conference.
“Every youngster has been putting in a lot of work, they have been working with the coaches, youngsters have played games against high-quality opposition, they have handled the pressure really well, we will keep an eye on the boys, and we will try to work for them, there is a lot for them to grow.”
