'We will help him regain his lost touch' - Babar Azam comes out in support of pacer Hasan Ali

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has backed pacer Hasan Ali saying that he is having a bad time and everyone in the team is backing the fast bowler up to regain lost form as he has won many matches for the country. To note, Pakistan lost the one-off T20I match played against the visitors Australia at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on April 5 (Tuesday).

Chasing a target of 163, Australia managed to get over the line by three wickets and five balls to spare. Skipper Aaron Finch (55 off 45 balls) was adjudged player of the match for his batting antics. The Australian batters took a liking to Hasan Ali, as he was thrashed for 30 runs in his three overs and didn’t pick up a wicket either.

“He is having a bad patch and needs our support and we will continue to do so to help him regain lost touch and confidence”, said Babar during an virtual press conference after his team lost the only T20I to Australia.

Talking about Hasan Ali’s numbers in T20Is, the 27-year old has played a total of 49 matches in which he has scalped 60 wickets at an average of 23.15. However, the right-arm pacer has been a little expensive. Ali has an economy rate of 8.36 in T20I cricket. He also has a four-wicket haul under his name.

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said that there were ups and downs during the contest against visitors, and the home team’s good players failed to rise to the occasion. The skipper also emphasized on the fact that with World Cup coming up later this year, they will give chances to the players to help them prepare for the mega event.

“We will give them (players) opportunities as we come up with a balanced combination for World Cup for which we have time and we will succeed in making the combination for the mega event”, he added. The Pakistani skipper also expressed his gratitude to the Australian side for visiting Pakistan, saying that the visitors enjoyed playing cricket during the tour
