'We'd like to order one large Hyderabadi Biryani' - RR troll SRH on Twitter after Tewatia-Parag's batting show
After clinching the much-needed victory, RR have now registered three wins in seven matches and are sitting sixth in the points table.
Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag emerged as heroes of Rajasthan Royals as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets at Dubai in Match 25 of the on-going IPL 2020. RR’s chances of a victory looked slim at one point but the Tewatia-Parag pair stitched a match-winning stand to steer RR past the finishing line.
David Warner-led SRH, after winning the toss, elected to bat first and amassed 158 runs on the board in their stipulated 20 overs. Manish Pandey, scoring a 44-ball 54, stuck in the middle and kept steering the SRH run-flow. Manish was also assisted by skipper Warner, who amassed 48 off 38 deliveries.
In the latter stage of the first innings, SRH’s batting force was refurbished by Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg. Both the batsmen stitched vital cameo to ensure that SRH post a competitive total on the scoreboard. While Williamson scored a 12-ball 22, Garg finished with 15 off 8 deliveries.
In response, RR experimented by sending Ben Stokes to open the innings with Jos Buttler. The move backfired as Stokes departed after scoring just 5. To plunge more misery on RR side, SRH also dismissed Steve Smith and Jos Butter before the end of Powerplay.
Sanju Samson (26) and Robin Uthappa (18) tried saving RR’s sinking ship by building a cautious partnership. However, after their departure, RR’s chances of a victory was looking vague, especially with Rashid Khan spewing venom with his leg-spin masterclass. However, Tewatia and Parag had other plans.
Rahul Tewatia-Riyan Parag duo turned the tide in RR’s favour
Tewatia slammed 45* off 28 deliveries and hammered 4 fours and 2 sixes in his match-defining innings. Parag also rose to the occasion by smashing a 26-ball 42*. Finishing off in style, Parag, hailing from Assam, scored the winning six and celebrated by doing traditional Bihu dance on the field. For SRH, Rashid and Khaleel Ahmed picked two wickets each but failed to curb Tewatia and Parag.
After registering an emphatic five-wicket victory, RR’s social media handle didn’t hold back from taking a sly dig at SRH. Following RR’s heroics at Dubai on World Biryani Day, they posted on Twitter, “Hey @Zomato, we’d like to place an order for one LAAAAARGE Hyderabadi Biryani. Location: One & Only Royal Mirage.”
After clinching the much-needed victory, RR have now registered three wins in seven matches and are sitting sixth in the points table. Eyeing to climb up to the upper half of the table, RR will next lock horns with an in-form Delhi Capitals side on October 14.
