In the first match, skipper MS Dhoni walked in a crucial stage when India needed 109 off 49 deliveries. While Rahul’s knock was the anchor knock, Dhoni’s knock was crucial as well. However, Dhoni failed at the crunch time and couldn’t hold on to the nerves as India lost by 1 run. But it was Dhoni’s handy 43 off 25 that got them so close to the target. Despite not being able to finish the match, Dhoni still manages to get a place in the combined XI for his overall brilliance.

His captaincy was excellent in the 2nd match. The way he shuffled his bowlers and made good use of his spinners was also commendable. Dhoni was exceptional behind the stumps too as he inflicted a calm stumping of Lendl Simmons in the second game. He also pouched a few catches in the series.
