West Indies vs Ireland, 2020: 3-match ODI series – Statistical Preview
All the key stats and numbers ahead of the 3-match ODI series between West Indies and Ireland.
After a decent tour of India against Afghanistan and India, the West Indies team now looks forward to the home series against Ireland. West Indies defeated Afghanistan in ODI series and one-off Test but lost T20I series against them and both the series against India in the decider match.
Ireland will be playing a 3-match ODI series followed by a 3-match T20I series in this tour. Ireland last played the ODI format was back in July last year where they whitewashed Zimbabwe in a 3-match series.

0.722 – West Indies have a win-loss record of 0.722 in ODI cricket at the Bridgetown in Barbados which will be hosting the first two matches of the ODI series. This is the 2nd lowest W/L ratio for the West Indies team at a venue where they played at least 15 ODIs. The Caribbean team played 31 ODIs in Barbados out of which the won only 13 and lost 18 matches.
1/9 – The 4-wicket win in the 2015 World Cup was the only time Ireland defeated West Indies in an ODI match. The two sides faced off in a total of nine ODI games out of which the West Indies won seven while another game ended without a result.
9.77 – William Porterfield averages only 9.77 with the bat in the ODI format against West Indies. He featured in all the nine ODIs between West Indies and Ireland scoring 88 runs with a highest score of 25.
34.1 – Shai Hope has a batting average of 34.1 at home in ODI cricket as he scored only 682 runs across 22 innings with five fifties. Outside home, Shai aggregated 2325 runs at an average of 62.83 with 8 centuries and 10 fifties.
Hope batted 16 innings outside West Indies as an opener where he scored 1230 runs at an average of 111.81. However, he opened only once at home in ODIs and scored 81 which is also his highest ODI score at home.
692 – Paul Stirling scored 692 runs in the ODI format across 13 innings in 2019 at an average of 53.23 and struck seven fifties and a hundred. The most ODI runs Stirling scored in a calendar year was 771 in 2010 but the year 2019 was the first time he averaged over 50 in a calendar year.
His 8 fifty-plus scores are also the most by him in a year in ODI format. He scored 32 runs in his previous ODI appearance which brought an end to his streak of 6 consecutive fifty-plus scores in the 50-over format.
2014 – The last instance of West Indies winning an ODI series/tournament at home was back in 2014 against Bangladesh which they won by 3-0 margin. West Indies hosted a Tri-series and seven bilateral series in these six years. Out of those seven bilateral series, West Indies lost five series and drew in another two series. The recent 3-0 series win over Afghanistan in India is the only ODI series win for West Indies in last six years.
