'What number did Jay Shah bat?' - Twitter brutally trolls Sourav Ganguly for mentioning Jay Shah while consoling India women's team
Ganguly had to face the heat for mentioning Jay Shah in the tweet while congratulating India Women's team for its performance.
India lost to Australia in the Women’s T20 World Cup final at the MCG on Sunday. It was a comprehensive performance from the home team who won the crucial game by a mammoth 85 runs even as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side lost an opportunity to create history. However, wishes poured in for the Women in Blue on social media praising them for their performance throughout the tournament and the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was not behind either.
India Women had reached the final of the 50-over World Cup in 2017 before crashing out of the semi-finals in the 2018 T20 World Cup. Even in the recently concluded WC in Australia, they were unbeaten throughout the group stage and had qualified for the final after their semi-final against England was washed out.
Ganguly lauded the Indian team’s show in the ICC events in the last few years and hoped that the trophy will soon in the cabinet the way they’ve been playing. While his tweet was definitely a motivational one for the team, the former India skipper mentioned the BCCI secretary Jay Shah in his tweet.
“Well done the Women’s team @bcci @JayShah … Two back to back World Cup finals .. but we lost .. u we’re super .. we will get there someday .. love the team and players,” Sourav Ganguly’s tweet read.

Why Ganguly mentioned Jay Shah?
Sourav Ganguly mentioning Jay Shah in his tweet has left many baffled and Twitterati isn’t pleased at all with the BCCI President. While few of them trolled him for the same, many questioned Jay Shah’s role in India Women’s team doing well in Australia.
Rather the former India cricketer Kirti Azad went one step ahead and asked Ganguly which number did the BCCI secretary and did he perform with the ball too. “Dada, @SGanguly99 what number did @JayShah bat, did he bowl also?” the tweet read.
Apart from Azad, Twitterati also expressed its disappointment over Sourav Ganguly crediting Jay Shah for the Women’s team’s performance and not lauding the support staff who actually worked hard behind the scenes.
