'What you said to me in New Zealand?' - Yuzvendra Chahal teases Martin Guptill over 'cuss word' incident
Guptill had used a Hindi cuss word against Chahal during the T20I series last year.
Veteran Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal might not have featured in the opening T20I against New Zealand. However, this doesn’t restrict the star cricketer from entertaining his fans. On Friday (November 19), the leggie took to his Instagram and shared a clip in which he can be seen Kiwi opener Martin Guptill. The New Zealand cricketer had used a Hindi cuss word against Chahal during the T20I series between the two nations last year.
While it has been nearly 20 months since that incident, it seems like Chahal hasn’t forgotten anything. In the short clip, Chahal can be heard saying, “What you said to me in New Zealand?”. The Kiwi, knowing Chahal’s intentions, cheekily tries to avoid the trap by saying. “I said hey buddy, how are you?” while stating that he couldn’t remember the actual conversation.
When Martin Guptill used a cuss word against Yuzvendra Chahal
Speaking of the incident, Guptill was engaged in a conversation with Indian opener Rohit Sharma in Auckland last year,. Yuzvendra Chahal, after taking over the microphone from broadcaster Jatin Sapru, went up and addressed the pair for an interaction. Guptill, unaware that he’s on air and is being heard, jokingly called the spinner a “G*****”, leaving Sharma embarrassed and in splits.
With this instance being on live television, the video went viral in no time and meme makers didn’t miss in pulling Guptill and Chahal’s leg. The leg-spinner, on the eve of the second T20I, ignited the matter by leaving the Kiwi cricketer embraced.
Speaking of Chahal’s social-media activities, the 31-year-old also made a heartfelt post on Friday, paying tribute to AB de Villiers. Having sharing the Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) dressing room since the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League, Chahal is known to share a great bond with the former South African captain. The same was evident in the leg-spinner’s post.
“You have a heart of gold and I know you understand me the best. Will definitely miss you. You provided me the strength and courage to conquer many things in life and I will always be grateful for you. From teaching cricket, giving life lessons to taking me for the most dangerous water ride at Atlantis,” the 31-year-old wrote while sharing a picture with De Villiers.
