KL Rahul on Saturday (August 20), promoted himself up in the order to give himself the much-needed batting time ahead of the Asia Cup, however, the Indian captain wasted his opportunity after being dismissed for just 1. The 30-year-old couldn’t pick the straight delivery of Victor Nyauchi as the ball hit his pad. He opted for a review, but with three reds, KL Rahul was sent back to the pavilion.

KL made his return to the game for the first time since the Indian Premier League. He was out with injury in the meanwhile and this was the first time he walked to bat. Against a relatively weak bowling line-up, the netizens expected Rahul to score big and send a statement to all his opponents before the Asia Cup. Alas, that wasn’t the case.

The majority of people on Twitter have lashed out their anger at the Indian opener, and some even called him over-rated. While others believe that he wasted a golden opportunity to score some runs before the continental cup, some even asked him not to open in the One Day Internationals. He, however, will have another opportunity in the 3rd ODI to get back into the groove before the Asia Cup. The debate has already started, though, whether he should come out to bat with Shikhar Dhawan or give Gill the slot.

Shardul Thakur shines as Zimbabwe bundle out for 161

Just like the first ODI, Zimbabwe once again failed to put up a show in the 2nd ODI of the series. Sean Williams (42) and Ryan Burl (39) were the only players to fight back against the Indian bowlers as no one else reached the 20-run mark. Shardul Thakur, with his fiery spell, picked up three wickets, giving away 38 runs in his seven years.

The ‘Lord’ of Indian cricket dismissed Innocent Kaia, Zimbabwean captain Regis Chakabva and Luke Jongwe. All the other bowlers picked up one wicket each including Deepak Hooda. Meanwhile, Twitter wasn’t impressed with KL Rahul getting out early and also wasting a review on his way back to the pavilion.
