After getting dominated in the first T20I, Sri Lanka, much to the surprise of many pundits, came roaring back in the second game. Their batting seemed to have clicked with the opening combination of Prathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka. The duo set up the game for the visitors with a 95-run partnership in 10.2 overs. However, skipper Angelo Mathews would be concerned that after getting a start like that, the Sri Lankan middle-order failed to capitalize. 

West Indies, on the other hand, fell to some really good bowling by the Sri Lankan spinners. Lakshan Sandakan’s 3 for 10, Wanindu Hasaranga’s 3 for 17 and Akila Dhananjaya’s 1 for 13 was the match-turning effort in the second T20I. Diving deep, it should also be noted that the hosts lost six wickets to spinners in the first match.

Captain Kieron Pollard did smash the Dhananjaya for six sixes in the series opener, but it should be considered as a one-off after the spinners held their lines in the second match. A series win for either of the teams would mean a world of good to their confidence in a year that has the T20 World Cup.

But, it is expected to be a tight contest. West Indies might also look to use their spinners a little more aggressively like the visitors to tighten their grip. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka would want more from their middle order and hope the spinners continue their domination over the hosts.

The young leg-spinner has been nothing short of impressive during whatever T20I cricket he has played. He has averaged 4.83 with the ball, which is quite incredible. Having picked up six wickets through the series, Hasaranga would be expected to lead the spin charge of Sri Lanka against the West Indies in the final match. He has scored 31 runs in two innings batting down the order as well which adds more value to his contribution to the team.
