Wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor takes a diving stunner to complete a slip catch

The English Women’s team has been one of the most dominating sides in the women’s cricket for quite a long time. One of the pillar stones or the mainstays of the setup has been wicket-keeper batter Sarah Taylor. The elegant batter is equally capable behind the stumps with her glovework, if not better. Sarah was the part of the English Women side that lifted the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.

The English side beat India Women in the finals of the tournament to be the ultimate champions. The tournament also marked as a comeback ICC major tournament for Sarah Taylor – who had earlier taken an indefinite break from the game of cricket due to personal reasons. Well, in the past, she has given her fans many memories to cherish with her spectacular performances.

Here is one such superlative effort from Sarah on the field. This from the vault video sees the athletic abilities of Taylor come to the fore. In the video, Sarah is seen completing a diving catch to her right. Taylor, who was the wicket-keeper in the game, made a full length dive and plucked the catch in thin air that was potentially going in the direction of the first and the second slip.

The incident took place during the third ODI of Australia Women tour of England in the year 2013. Aussie skipper Jodie Fields was on strike in the 26th over as D Hazell came in to bowl. Hazell bowled a length delivery that was slightly slower through the air.

Fields was quick to make a shuffle and took position to play the reverse sweep. She did manage to play the shot well enough, but a very vigilant Sarah Taylor pocketed the ball with one hand. She had anticipated the shot beforehand and was quick on her feet to get into the right diving frame and finished the catch with utmost perfection.
