Windies vs England: Jason Holder suspended for one Test due to slow over rate offense
With 229 runs in three innings, Jason Holder scored more runs than anyone else in the series thus far.
By winning the Test series against England, Windies cricket unlocked their great achievement in recent times. Under the able leadership of Jason Holder, the side performed extremely well. The Brits were embarrassed in both the first two Test by huge margins and lost the series with still one more game to go.
While the Windies registered a 381-run win in the first Test, they won by 10 wickets in the second. With his top-notch performances, Jason Holder led the team from the front. When his side was in slight trouble in the first Test, he scored a double century in front of his home crowd. Moreover, he picked up two wickets in that game. Holder also made handy contributions in the second Test to help script history.
Kraigg Brathwaite will lead the side in Holder’s absence
With 229 runs in three innings, Jason Holder scored more runs than anyone else in the series thus far. He also picked up 7 wickets in 2 games at an average of about 18. However, he has been suspended for the third Test against England due to the slow over rate offense.
Apparently, the Windies team took more than the stipulated time to complete their quota of overs. Hence, the skipper of a team is usually held responsible for such offenses. Therefore, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to impose a ban on Jason Holder. Windies will go into the third Test without their skipper and Kraigg Brathwaite could lead the team in his absence.
This is not the first time that Jason Holder was banned due to slow over rate. There were impositions on him multiple times earlier as well. It will be a huge blow for the home team as they aim at clean sweeping England in St Lucia.
