We have seen former India captain MS Dhoni in various other avatars besides that of a cricketer and of late, he has been associated with yet another sport and it is Kabaddi. The 37-year-old is done with his international assignments this year for he has not been picked for the T20I series against Australia starting November 21. He thus took the opportunity to promote the game of kabaddi and was seen shooting for a promotional advertisement with Pro Kabaddi League in Mumbai.

Dhoni was recently dropped for Windies T20I series

Dhoni, who completed 10,000 ODI runs earlier this year, was dropped for the recently concluded T20I series against the Windies for the selectors decided to look ahead to the next World T20 in Australia in 2020. Rishabh Pant has been brought in as the former India captain’s replacement in the side and he did well in the final game of the series that India won 3-0.

Dhoni will be left with playing only with the ODI version if the doors have been shut permanently for him in the T20Is. Opinions are sharply divided over whether the player should be playing in the ICC World Cup 2019 in England which, if he does, is likely to be his final international assignment.

However, going by the picture that Rhiti Sports shared on Twitter showing Dhoni trying a hand at kabaddi, one was certain that the player was having a blast at it.

Indian captain Virat Kohli said after the ODI series against the Windies that Dhoni was still an integral part of the team. “I think the selectors have already addressed this if I’m not wrong. And he’s been spoken to, firstly… So, I don’t see any reason why I should be sitting here and explaining that. I think the selectors have come out and explained exactly what happened,” he said at the post-match press conference after the series got over.

Dhoni led India to title victories in the World Twenty20 in South Africa in 2007 and the ICC World Cup at home in 2011. He was also the captain of the Indian squad that played in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and reached till the semi-finals.
