Women's Big Bash League 2019: Match 9, 10, 11 and 12 - Round Up

Saturday afternoon and evening saw some very interesting cricketing action in the Women’s Big Bash as it saw a couple of pretty one-sided games and another couple turned out to be super enthralling. Some senior international cricketers showed up with some amazing performances on the day, thus ensuring their sides got over the line.

In what turned out to be a pretty low-scoring fixture, Sarah Coyte’s late exploits saw Adelaide Strikers post a decent 113 runs on the board. The score didn’t seem to be enough at the beginning, but some amazing bowling renditions from Megan Schutt, Amanda Wellington and Sarah Coyte helped Adelaide defend the total by 3 runs against the Hurricanes.

Marizanne Kapp starred for the Sydney Sixers in their fixture against Melbourne Stars as the South African returned with a three-fer, helping them restrict Melbourne to just 107 runs batting first. Her national teammate Mignon du Preez scored 44 with the bat for the Stars. In reply, Ellyse Perry held her nerve and helped the Sixers sail through this challenge with 8 wickets and 17 balls remaining.

Jessica Duffin’s efforts go in vain

Another cracker-jacker of a contest took place between Sunday Thunder and the Melbourne Renegades, where Thunder scored 132 runs batting first. Rachel Haynes scored a sturdy 36 with the bat as Sophie Molineux and Maitlan Brown picked up three wickets each for Renegades. Jessica Duffin scored a sensational 56-ball 69, but fell at the wrong time in the run chase as they fell short by 3 runs. Shabnim Ismail starred with figures of 3/14.

Beth Mooney’s 67 and Maddy Green’s composed 34 helped Brisbane Heat put up a decent total on the board batting first. They registered 146 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, with Jemma Barsby and Kim Garth returning with two wickets apiece. Amy Ellen Jones and skipper Meg Lenning registered fifties for the Scorchers as they steamrolled past their opponents with ease by 9 wickets.
